Meet Ken
Lt. Governor of Kansas
Ken Rahjes, a fourth generation Kansan, was raised on a diversified family farm and ranch outside of Agra in north central Kansas, where he lives with his wife of 35 years, Lori.
For the last decade, Ken has served constituents in the 110th District of the Kansas House of Representatives. He most recently served as Chair of the Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee and serves on the House Committee on Appropriations and the Agriculture and Natural Resources Budget Committee. He is the former Chair of the Higher Education Budget Committee and former Vice-Chair of the Committee on Water.
Ken led the effort to strengthen rural Kansas by passing the Attorney Training Program for Rural Kansas Act (Sub for HB 2595), which encourages and expands opportunities and incentives for licensed attorneys or Kansas Law students to practice in rural areas. Ken also introduced the bill to establish the Water Task Force, which is working on long-term water solutions for all sectors of the state.
He has championed business in the state of Kansas and worked with leaders to develop tax policy that keeps more money in the pockets of our people. In addition to working on the family farm and ranch for two years as a Congressional agriculture aide, Ken has spent most of his career in agricultural broadcasting and serves as President of Authentic Ag Inc.
“I am honored to join the Schwab team,” Rahjes said. “I served with Scott in the House of Representatives and have seen his leadership firsthand. We will work every day to make our state a great place to raise a family and enjoy a quality of life second to none. Leadership is more than slogans and soundbites, it's delivering real results for all Kansans.”
Ken is a member of the Phillips County Farm Bureau (past president), Phillipsburg Rotary Club, Board Member of the Huck Boyd Institute for Rural Development and Kansas Foundation for Agriculture in the Classroom. Ken and Lori have four grown children and one grandchild.
