Schwab Outlines Vision for Better, Affordable Living by Decreasing Property Taxes
“It’s a matter of fairness: Plan puts taxpayers first.”
Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Schwab today outlined his B.A.L.D. strategy for leveling the playing field for Kansans with his plan to reform the property tax system, including changes to the appraisal appeal process.
Schwab’s plan, B.A.L.D.: Better, Affordable Living by Decreasing property taxes, restores fairness to property owners who have faced rising property appraisals set at the whim of unelected county bureaucrats resulting in tax increases that exceed the rate of inflation.
“It’s time for government to put the taxpayer first,” Schwab said. “Kansans’ greatest concern is rising property taxes and an appraisal process that is far too burdensome and tilted in favor of government.
“This must be fixed. We are pricing the American dream of home ownership out of reach for young Kansans and our senior citizens. I hear this from Kansans every day.
“Having to sell your home to pay your property taxes is not a Kansas value.”
The Schwab B.A.L.D. plan focuses on policies that tip the scales back in favor of property owners who have experienced ever-rising appraisals and corresponding increases in their property taxes.
